Pacific Poker Review

Overview:

The PacificPoker Network is the 12th largest poker site in the world, but does not accept players from the United States. The traffic here is fairly low, but to make up for it the players are downright bad. There are a variety of games available, including No Limit and Limit versions of Hold’em, as well as Limit and Pot Limit Omaha. There are a fair amount of Sit & Gos and tournaments that occur regularly, but nothing for any serious stakes.

About Pacific Poker

PacificPoker.com is part of the 888 group, which is mainly known for operating the world’s largest online casino. The good news is that many casino degenerate types wander over to the poker tables and start gambling it up, making the tables extremely juicy. The No Limit games here are very wild and have the potential to be very profitable if you are a patient player. The 3D graphics at the table are a nice upgrade and the table controls work great. The lobby isn’t anything special but is practical enough so you can get around just fine.

Tournaments

There are a lot of small stakes tournaments and Sit & Gos with buy-ins ranging from $1 to hundreds of dollars. Like the cash games, the tournaments are played super loosely and aggressively. There are a few staple tournaments here, including the $100+$9 High Roller Saturday tournament and the $75+$5 Thursday $50,000 guarantee. Satellites run regularly for all the major tournaments, and when live events come around they run promotions aimed at getting players to those events.

Cash Games

If you are an extremely tight aggressive type who is very patient and can get through some big swings, you’ll find that your win-rate can explode here. The main problem is that the player pool is extremely shallow, but the ones that do play here are downright terrible. The games start at the microstakes with some decently populated small stakes games. For medium and high stakes action you’ll have to wait for European peak hours.

Traffic

We have to face facts and say that the traffic here at PacificPoker isn’t high at all. It’s not rated in the top 10 in the world and doesn’t accept players from the United States. There is decent traffic during European peak hours and the major tournaments in the site holds get their fair share of players.

Promotions

There are some fun promotions to take part in at PacificPoker:

  1. A 100% deposit bonus up to $400, of which 25% is instantly credited to your account.
  2. WSOP Main Event satellite packages.
  3. $50,000 First Depositors challenge.
  4. First Depositors’ Freeroll ($3,500 prize pool).

Overall

If you are the type that loves to play just a small number of tables against wild and wooly competition, then PacificPoker might be worth a shot. There’s a nice deposit bonus here and the players are mostly gamblers. For Apple users, you’ll have to use their web-play option which works really well within Safari 4+ browsers.
