2012 WSOP Bracelet Most Expensive Prize to Date

2012 WSOP BraceletThe most coveted prize in poker just got more coveted. Weighing in at 170 grams and holding over 35 karats of diamonds, the 2012 World Series of Poker bracelet is the most expensive sports prize to have ever been given away.

This year’s bracelet was designed by famous jeweler Jason Arasheben, president of Jason of Beverly Hills, and was unveiled at their location at the Cosmopolitan Resort in Las Vegas at a cocktail party celebrating the kick off of the 2012 World Series of Poker.

Every jeweler gets to design earrings and necklaces and bracelets, but this is the chance to do a piece that really means something,” said Jason. “I wanted to pay tribute to Las Vegas, because I have a store here. They don’t have a professional basketball or football team, but what says Vegas more than the World Series of Poker?

Jason went on to say that “the epitome of Las Vegas is to be over the top, so that’s what I did.” We couldn’t agree more, but with such a high-value prize this year, I wonder if the winner will actually wear the bracelet, and on what occasions? We all remember when Jonathan Duhamel was setup and robbed by his ex girlfriend, and none of us want to read another story like that again.

This bracelet is worth more than all the other 60 first-place bracelets combined,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “Think of it, over 10 days the winner will earn more than (NFL quarterback) Tom Brady earns in a year.

Caesar’s Entertainment, which owns the Rio hotel & casino where the WSOP is being played, will host a total of sixty bracelet worthy poker tournaments during this year’s World Series of Poker. This year there is a new poker tournament being introduced. The super high roller will have a buy-in of one million dollars and will be played by professional poker players and extremely wealthy businessmen alike.

The World Series of Poker events commenced on May 27th and finish on July 16th.
