Szilvia Freire is a popular and growing name in the poker industry. She was born on September 24, 1984 in Budapest, Hungary. She was originally a model and beauty pageant contestant, and still models today. Her unique mix of Hungarian and Portugese gives her her awesome exotic look, and obviously one of the main reasons that the poker world took notice of her in the first place. She won miss Hungary in 2008 and travelled to participate in the Miss Universe contest. She also represented Mozambique, her father’s country, at another Miss Universe contest. Szilvia is not all looks though, graduating with a degree in economics.
Freire made her debut into the poker world at the World Series of Poker where she was sponsored by Everest Poker, who often buys different celebs and beautiful people into the major tourney as a creative way of advertising. Unfortunately, Szilvia busted out of the tournament pretty early, but not without some valuable pics snapped and shared branding the Everest Poker logo.
While Freire’s main passions remain participating in beauty pageants and modelling, she continues to play and improve at her favorite poker variation, Texas Holdem. She has been improving by playing both live and online tournaments, and you never know when she just might pop back on the circuit again. Maybe Everest Poker or another room will put her into the 2014 WSOP or other major tourney. When it comes to modelling, Szilvia just wants to keep representing her country and nationalities while in poker her main goal is to win a major tournament like the World Series of Poker. With such a positive mindset and a self admitted positive person, you never know just how far she will be able to take it. Keep an eye out for Szilvia Freire!
