With 27 events and mega-prize pools guaranteed, the action is always fast and furious during the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). Unfortunately for many recreational grinders, buy-ins ranging from $200 to $1,500 are simply too rich. Fortunately, MiniFTOPS XV has the same 27 events, but at one-tenth of the buy-in. MiniFTOPS XV kicks off today, March 10th, and will run through Sunday, March 21st. Over the course of the week, MiniFTOPS XV tournaments will have a combined prize pool of $6 million.
Kicking off today at 21:00 ET is Event #1, hosted by Joao Barbosa. The buy-in is $20+$2 and the event has a guaranteed prize pool of $350,000. There are a ton of ongoing satellites with buy-ins as low as $0.60 or just 250 Full Tilt Points. Event #2 won’t kick off until Thursday, March 11th at 13:00 ET, a $24+$2 Pot Limit Omaha High/Low Knockout hosted by Roland de Wolfe. That tournament will feature a $75,000 prize pool. Thursday concludes with Event #3, which will be a $35,000 guaranteed $50+$5 No Limit Hold’em 3x Shootout hosted by Taylor Caby.
Roy Winston will be the official host for Event #4, which starts at 13:00 ET on Friday, March 12th. The event is sure to be one of the more hotly contested tournaments of the weekend and is a $20+$2 No Limit Hold’em Cubed tournament with a $300,000 prize pool. The other event taking place on Friday will start at 21:00 ET and is hosted by Jens Voertmann; the buy-in for the Limit Hold’em Six-Max event is $20+$2.
Event #6 starts the action on Saturday at 13:00 ET with a $50+$5 Pot Limit Omaha Six-Max tournament. This event boasts a $150,000 guarantee, making it one of the richest non-Hold’em events of the series. Steve Wong will host Event #7, a $10+$1 No Limit Hold’em Rebuy tournament starting at 15:00 ET that will have a $350,000 guarantee.
There will be three events taking place on Sunday starting with Event #8, a $12+$1 No Limit Hold’em Knockout with a $250,000 guarantee hosted by Claudio Rinaldi. Event #9 will start at 15:00 ET and be a $50+$5 No Limit Hold’em Heads-Up tournament hosted by Michael Craig, with players fighting for their share of $200,000. The first Sunday of the MiniFTOPS series wraps up with Event #10 at 17:00 ET. Hosted by popular pro Kenny Tran, this tournament will cost $30+$3 to enter and have a guaranteed prize pool of $600,000.
There are plenty of other events in the series, many of which boast prize pool guarantees in excess of $250,000. Event #12, which will take place on Monday, March 15th at 21:00, will have a $100+$9 buy-in and a $400,000 prize pool. Event #17 starts at 21:00 ET on Wednesday, March 17th and has a $350,000 prize pool. The buy-in is $30+$3 to the No Limit Hold’em Six-Max Rebuy.
On Saturday, March 20th at 13:00 ET, 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table participant Scott Montgomery will host a $250+$16 No Limit Hold’em Ante from the Start Two-Day Six-Max tournament. This event will have a $600,000 guarantee and conclude the next day. On the last day of competition, Event #25 will start at 13:00 ET with a $24+$2 No Limit Hold’em Knockout Six-Max tournament with a $300,000 guarantee. The MiniFTOPS XV will conclude the same day at 17:00 ET with the Main Event hosted by Jennifer Harman. This tournament will have a $50+$5 buy-in and boast an $800,000 prize pool.
All players who make the final table of a MiniFTOPS event will receive a limited-edition MiniFTOPS jacket. Winners from each event will get a jacket plus a silver MiniFTOPS jersey to go along with the first place money. The player who finishes first on the MiniFTOPS Leaderboard will claim a special prize package that includes entry to every FTOPS XVI event except for the Two-Day event. That prize package is worth approximately $8,500.
MiniFTOPS is found exclusively at Full Tilt Poker, which features a Mac OS X software client.
