PokerStars Announces 2010 WCOOP Schedule

The 2010 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is almost upon us. The Mac-friendly site PokerStars stole the thunder from archrival Full Tilt – which is in the midst of its quarterly Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) – by announcing the final 2010 WCOOP schedule on Friday. Noteworthy was a whopping $50 million guaranteed prize pool. That’s nearly double the combined payouts for the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event November Nine.

The $50 million guaranteed prize pool is the largest ever put up by PokerStars. The WCOOP will turn 10 next year and has been a staple of the online poker world since 2002. In 2009, players from 140 countries showed up to PokerStars to partake in the WCOOP and Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko trumped the pack in the series’ Main Event, earning $1.7 million.

Dan “djk123” Kelly was named the WCOOP Player of the Series after turning in two titles and adding a final table in the Main Event. Not too shabby! Kelly, of course, recently took down the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max event held during the 2010 WSOP for his first bracelet and a sponsorship with the USA-friendly DoylesRoom.

Brace yourself. The storm is coming. Here’s a look at the 2010 WCOOP schedule:
