Ultimate Bet Launches Mac Client

Attention, Mac online poker players! Your options for online poker rooms to play at have increased in a big way. Now, Ultimate Bet, a USA-friendly online poker room on the CEREUS Network, offers a Mac client. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill web-based client, either. This is a fully downloadable version that offers nearly all of the bells and whistles that your windows counterparts have access to. Think of it like a level playing field. So what are some of the features and how do you download it? We’ve got you covered.

UB Mac is a fully downloadable client for fans of the alternative computing system. Just go to Ultimate Bet’s website and download the Mac edition onto your computer. Then, open the dmg file by double clicking its icon. When you’re finished, drag the UB logo into your applications folder just like you would for any other Mac program you’d download. Double click the gold and black UB icon and select “Open” if you receive any warnings about running the software. Your final step is to accept the Terms and Conditions and then, poof, you’ll be on your way to competing on the virtual felts of one of the largest sites in the world.

You can open up to five tables and five tournament lobbies at a time and the software looks nearly the exact same as what you’d find on Windows. You’ll even be able to use Ultimate Buddy, the swank buddy list that is built into Ultimate Bet. All you’ll need to get started is Mac OS X 10.4 or later as well as the most recent version of Java. Also, make sure you have at least 128 MB of RAM and a screen resolution of at least 800×600.

Not every feature from the Windows version exists in the Mac edition of the software, but you should be able to get by anyway. You won’t have access to multi-player blackjack, hotkeys, instant hand play, cascading and tiling tables, favorite seats, or different table views. If you can live without those, then you’ll be set to play on your Macbook. Besides, the entire download and installation process won’t take you more than five minutes (if it does, get a faster internet connection).

Only Hold’em tournaments exist within UB Mac, but those are the bulk of what the CEREUS Network offers anyway. In ring games, you’ll find the standard fare like Hold’em, Stud, Omaha, and HORSE. There are both real money and play money games. The cashier functionality is the same within UB Mac as it is in Windows, so feel free to make deposits and withdrawals as you normally would.

Ultimate Bet also has an Instant Play option for those Mac, Windows, or Linux users who are ardently opposed to downloading and installing software. Instant Play has very similar limitations to UB Mac. You’ll need the Java Runtime Environment for your operating system in order to make Instant Play a reality and real money ring games, Hold’em tournaments, and single player blackjack are all accessible. Versions of Windows after 98se and versions of Mac after OS X 10.4 are supported, as are Linux machines.

The CEREUS Network is the sixth largest worldwide according to PokerScout.com, boasting a seven day running average of 2,450 real money ring game players. At its peak, nearly 4,000 cash game players call the network, which also includes Absolute Poker, home. CEREUS is the third largest site or network that accepts USA players, trailing only PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, which rank as number one and number two worldwide, respectively. Its traffic is similar with that found on the Ongame Network and Everest Poker.
