Weekly News and Rumor Roundup for July 11th

This week, we see a huge promotion from Full Tilt Poker along with rumors about a new iPod Touch and a security patch for Safari.

Full Tilt Poker Announces “FIVE” Promotion

To celebrate the five years of existence, Full Tilt Poker has announced a promotion to celebrate the anniversary from July 9th until July 19th.  During the time period, there will be a special 24-hour 5X Happy Hour starting on Tuesday, July 14th at 00:05 ET and 5X Happy Hours taking place during regularly scheduled times.

There will also be 5X Bust-Out Bounties for any member of Team Full Tilt that is taken out of a tournament.  Normally, in any sit and go or tournament with 30 or more players, if a user knocks out one of the “red” pros from Full Tilt Poker, they receive their entire entry-fee for the tournament (up to $200) back along with a t-shirt.  For this promotion, the reward is five times the buy-in.

There will be special $5K Every 5 Hours tournaments that run from July 14th through July 19th.  Players can battle for their share of a $5,000 for an entry fee of just five Full Tilt Points.  Players can find these events under the “Tournaments” tab in the lobby, where they are listed in pink.

Finally, the promotion will conclude on July 19th with the Big Money Sunday tournament series, where guarantees will be increased by a total of $700,000.  The Sunday Brawl will see its guaranteed prize money up from $350,000 to $500,000.  At 18:00 ET will be the $1 Million Guarantee that will actually feature a prize pool of $1.5 million.  Finally, the 19:05 ET Sunday Mulligan will boast a $250,000 guarantee.

New iPod Touch Coming?

Rumors are flying around that a new 3.1 edition of the iPod Touch is in development.  Reports are pointing to PinchMedia, which announced it has detected that specific iPod version number in its analytics reporting from App Store applications.  This is believed to be the next generation of iPod Touch, as the current version is 2.1 and previous references to the model have been detected within the 3.0 firmware.  More rumors suggest that the new iPod Touch will come with a camera and be released sometime in September.

Players that hit the felts on sites such as Bodog and Party Poker via the web-based Instant Play option will have reason to be excited for the latest Safari patch.  The update addresses two security vulnerabilities that make it possible for the Mac to be attacked from a malicious site.
